"... A Buddhist and an Aetheist are waiting behind the counter..."

The Common Ground Dove is a place where people are welcome to acknowledge and respect the multiplicity of faiths. Although spirituality is a very personal thing and religion often avoided as a discussion topic, here at the Common Ground Dove, we are open about our open-mindedness. Through our forum for events and discussions, we share and learn about each other's beliefs and values across our different cultures, and also find our commonalities. The hope is that by encouraging young people to get excited about their own and each other's spiritualities, we may promote world peace and understanding.

Eventually, the inter-faith line, "A Muslim, a Jew, and a Christian walk into a bar..." may not only lead to smiles, but also to enlightening conversation.

What is the Common Ground Dove project?

Have you ever wondered...
Who your friends really are, at their core? What they really believe in? What their values are? Where their journeys worldwide have truly taken them, i.e. spiritual reflections along the way? When were the major turning points in their lives?

Social Networking... and Truly Connecting
I love Facebook (and before that, Friendster), but I felt like something was missing... In all our connections with each other, what do we really have in common? How can we really learn about each other, in our busy, distant and distracted lives? How can we grow and improve ourselves and our global community? Instead of just listing favorite movies, music or quotes, can we share how certain individuals, places and things have personally inspired us, moved us, changed us, or helped us grow?

The Common Ground Dove project
The Common Ground Dove is a place for us to get excited about our spiritual growth, share our beliefs and values, learn about and respect each other for who we are, and show how we are global citizens, open- and peace-minded. In this small token, we can help promote world peace, encourage spiritual and religious tolerance, connect with different cultures, respect the multiplicity of faiths, and hopefully learn a few things along the way. Idealistic? Yes. Improbable? No.

Take some time to ponder, or check out what your friends have to say:
What is most important to you in life? What is your purpose? Who are you, really? What do you value?
What do you believe in? Do you believe in God(s)? Karma? Saints? Why or why not?
Do you consider yourself spiritual? Do you identify yourself with a religion? Why or why not?
Do you believe in after-life, Heaven, reincarnation, or a parallel universe?
Why are we here on this earth? What is the meaning of life?
